Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its SUV model lineup with three major launches – the e Vitara electric SUV, the Fronx strong hybrid and a premium three-row SUV. The Maruti e Vitara will come with the 49kWh and 61kWh battery packs, and offer a claimed MIDC range of over 500km. Some of its key highlights including Level-2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, reclining and split rear seats and more.
The Maruti Fronx will be the brand’s first model to feature a new cost-effective strong hybrid powertrain, developed in-house for mass-market offerings. The carmaker is likely to hybridize its 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine.
An all-new Maruti premium SUV, measuring over 4.5 metres in length, is also under the development. It’s likely to be based on the Grand Vitara, sharing platform, powertrains and features. Once launched, the new 7-seater SUV will take directly on the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
