Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition in India as a motorsport-inspired take on its electric SUV, aimed squarely at enthusiasts who live for racing weekends and still need a practical family EV. It blends the BE 6’s usable range and tech with a strong Formula E visual and emotional connect, including special experiences for the first set of buyers.

Price, variants and timeline

  • The Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition is positioned as what Mahindra calls the world’s first Formula E–themed electric SUV.

  • It comes in two variants: FE2 at Rs 23.69 lakh and FE3 at Rs 24.49 lakh, both ex-showroom India.

  • Bookings open on 14 January 2026, with customer deliveries scheduled to start from 14 February 2026.

For context, the standard BE 6 range starts lower, but the Formula E Edition is bundled with the higher powertrain and more kit, so it is clearly targeted at a niche, enthusiast buyer within the BE line-up.

Exterior design and colors

Mahindra has gone all-in on the race-car vibe without making the SUV look overdone or toy-like. The Formula E Edition gets a new, more aggressive front bumper with circular projector headlamps, gloss-black detailing and striking Firestorm Orange accents that immediately differentiate it from the regular BE 6.

  • It gets four exterior colours: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red and Stealth Black, with the last one really suiting the motorsport theme.

  • There are racing-inspired 20-inch alloy wheels on the FE3 and 19-inch alloys on the FE2, complemented by Firestorm Orange brake calipers, roof and boot spoilers, and Formula E / FIA decals.

  • The roof and bonnet carry a unique 12-stripe graphic, each stripe representing a year of Mahindra’s participation in Formula E, adding a nice storytelling element for fans.

At the rear, the tail-lamp signature is tweaked so the LEDs no longer stretch down into the bumper area, and a fresh Formula E badge sits alongside the BE 6 logo to underline its special-edition status.

Interior, ambience and tech

Step inside and the cabin continues the motorsport theme but keeps the premium EV feel intact. Firestorm Orange accents run across the dashboard, wireless charging dock and steering components, giving a sporty contrast to the darker base interior.

  • The cabin gets a special FIA x Formula E Edition plaque, Formula E logos on the dash and seats, FIA-branded seatbelts, translucent door inserts and a race-car-style flip cover over the start/stop button, which will definitely appeal to enthusiasts.

  • There is a custom Formula E-inspired startup animation on the screens, along with a specially tuned exterior sound profile to give the EV a more emotional startup and drive-off character.

On the features front, the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition essentially sits at the top of the BE 6 tree, mirroring the fully-loaded Pack Three trim. You get dual 12.3-inch displays, Snapdragon 8155 chipset, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Harman Kardon 16-speaker audio with Dolby Atmos, built-in Alexa, 5G connectivity plus OTT and social media apps, along with the Me4U connected suite.

Specification

The Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition is not just a cosmetic pack; it is locked to the stronger 79 kWh battery pack and rear-drive motor combination. The rear-mounted motor produces about 210 kW (around 286 hp) and 380 Nm, which gives the SUV a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 202 km/h.

  • Mahindra is claiming a real-world range of around 500 km for this configuration, while ARAI numbers for the 79 kWh setup on the BE 6 family go as high as 682 km.

  • Fast-charging capability is strong: with up to 180 kW DC, Mahindra says 20–80 percent can be done in about 20 minutes, making highway top-ups quite practical.

Under the skin, the SUV uses iLink front suspension and a 5-link rear layout, with frequency-dependent dampers and low-rolling-resistance tyres tuned for a balance between efficiency and sporty feel. The FE3 variant additionally gets adaptive suspension, which should help it cope better with mixed Indian road conditions while still allowing a firmer, more controlled feel when driven hard.

Safety Features

Mahindra has loaded the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition with safety and driver-assistance tech to match its price and positioning. Equipment includes six airbags, 360-degree camera, blind-view monitor, all-wheel disc brakes with brake-by-wire and intelligent electronic brake booster, driver drowsiness detection and individual-tyre TPMS display.

  • ADAS features (similar to the top BE 6 trims) are part of the package, adding an extra layer of active safety for highway and city driving.

  • To deepen the emotional connect with motorsport, the first 999 customers get special benefits such as a track-day experience with racer Kush Maini, a collector’s box with memorabilia, a special racing-style number (0–99) decal and even having their first name on the Mahindra Racing car competing in the London E-Prix; three of them will win an all-expenses-paid London E-Prix experience.

Mahindra is also launching a Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition ride-on toy for kids at around Rs 18,000 from April 2026, mirroring the real SUV’s aero details and colors, which subtly builds the brand’s performance image from a young age. For an Indian EV buyer who loves motorsport, this Edition is clearly designed to feel less like a regular family SUV purchase and more like joining a racing-led community.
