VinFast VF6, VF7 electric SUVs to be launched in India on September 6

Vinfast VF6, VF7 Variants Revealed For India

Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast will launch its first two models for the Indian market, the VF6 and the VF7, on September 6, 2025. Bookings for the two electric SUVs opened in July for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

Both SUVs are being locally assembled at VinFast’s Thoothukudi plant in Tamil Nadu, which began full-scale production earlier this month. Local assembly is expected to help the company price the models more competitively against rivals, given the lower import duties compared to fully built imports.

VinFast has committed an overall investment of USD 2 billion in India, with USD 500 million allocated in the first phase. The Tamil Nadu facility has commenced operations with a capacity of 50,000 units per year, which is expected to increase to 1,50,000 units annually, depending on demand. At its full capacity, the plant is expected to create 3,000-3,500 jobs.

The VinFast VF6 electric SUV is equipped with a 59.6kWh battery pack. Key features include all-LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, vegan leather upholstery, a dual-tone interior, a powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a heads-up display. It also offers a panoramic glass roof and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

The larger VinFast VF7 electric SUV shares features such as Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, connected car technology and LED lighting. It is equipped with a 70.8kWh battery pack and 19-inch alloy wheels.
